Vision & Values
As Bible believing Christians we seek to be a “GLAD” church – Glorifying God, Loving our Neighbours, Announcing the Good News, and Disciple making.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
– Deuteronomy 6:5 (See also Matthew 22v37-38)
Jesus, when he was asked “which is the greatest commandment” quoted this, saying it is the first, and greatest commandment.
Glorifying God is about putting Him at the very centre of everything we do; it’s about having that relationship with Jesus. Therefore, everything we do as a church should help us in glorifying God.
Everything we do at home, at work, in schools, and colleges should all ultimately centre on glorifying God. It is, we believe, the most important thing that we do as Christians.
Love Our Neighbours
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people.”
– Leviticus 19:18
“The second greatest commandment is: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
– Matthew 22:39-40
The story of the Good Samaritan in the new testament epitomises what we should do in terms of loving our neighbour. Jesus said that we should love our enemies – therefore loving our neighbour includes loving our enemies. It is a great testimony to others, when as Christians we are able to do this.
When you think of people like Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela who did that in spite of the most horrendous conditions, it spoke a great message, and we can see the results of these transformations today.
Announce The Good News
“At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”"
– Luke 4:42
“And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.”
– Mark 13:10
Jesus’ purpose of announcing the Gospel and declaring the Good News has been passed onto us.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:19
