Our Vision & Values
Vision & Values
As Bible believing Christians we seek to be a “GLAD” church. A group of Christians who, through the power of God’s Holy Spirit: Glorify God, Love our Neighbour, Announce the Good News, and Disciple people.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and all your mind.”
– Deuteronomy 6:5, Matt 22:37-38
Jesus, when he was asked “which is the greatest commandment” quoted this, saying it is the first, and greatest commandment.
Glorifying God is about putting Him at the very centre of everything we do, with everything we have. First and foremost we exist to worship and glorify God with our whole life and every part of it. Therefore, everything we do as a church, everything we do at home, at work, in schools, at college, in University, should help us, ultimately, in glorifying God. It is, we believe, the most important thing that we do as Christians.
Love Our Neighbours
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people.”
– Leviticus 19:18
“The second greatest commandment is: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
– Matthew 22:39-40
The story of the Good Samaritan in the new testament epitomises what we should do in terms of loving our neighbour. Jesus said that we should love our enemies – therefore loving our neighbour includes loving our enemies. It is a great testimony to Christians when they can do that.
When you think of people like Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela who can do that in spite of the most horrendous conditions, it spoke a great message, and we can see the results of these transformations today.
Announce The Good News
“At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.””
– Luke 4:42
“And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.”
– Mark 13:10
Jesus’ purpose of announcing the Gospel and declaring the Good News has been passed onto us, his disciples in this generation.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:19
Discipling people involves building a covenant community where people are radically changed and equipped to live holy and pleasing lives before God and one another. We want Bradford Family Church to be a resource church that supports other churches and local communities.
